The Queen of Pentacles

Queen of Pentacles - “earth mother”

The Queen of Pentacles is the friend you turn to for compassion, and a hug, followed by home made cake and a good natter. She’s the perfect person to offer nurture in times of need.

She is mistress of hearth and home.

Wise, practical, compassionate- and often a businesswoman alongside all of this. She is some one filled with good old fashioned common sense.

She is a naturally caring type, always busy gathering waifs & strays around her. Always doing something, she lives life in a grounded, gentle, but busy way.

She will show her true strength when those she loves are in need or under threat- this may be family, pets, a neighborhood, or a course.

The Queen of pentacles is a wonderful organizer, and a capable do-er. She does enjoy comfort, and a little material abundance, when she is under stress she may start organizing, or cleaning just to procrastinate.

At her worst she can start to put material wealth, and how her house looks, before her loved ones.

Symbols;

The season, I sense the season is Autumn, with the colours shown, and fruits on her throne- there is a sense of harvest here, of good things appreciated- yet also a sense of sadness. As a mother of four I know nothing marks time more quickly than having a child, the joy & sadness combined as day by day they grow, to in time leave. Maybe all love is marked this way, joy of the love & awareness that separation is inevitable, even if by death.

The hare (rabbit) could represent so many things, but to me it represents the fragility of life & family & love. Both rabbits & hares are prey to so many animals, humans included. Their lives are brief & fragile.

The blue mountains are there in the background, this is a card of reaching full potential.

In life it often asks you to focus on love, crafts, nature, to find those things you cherish in life, and enjoy them.

It may refer to the home, working from home, family & children.

It may be asking you to improve your health through diet, exercise, herbs & nutritional guidance.

In a reversed, or difficult position it might suggest that you are focusing too much on material wealth and image. I have seen his card refer to O.C.D many times now.

At her best she is the head of the household, caring for all, friends, family, any one who comes under her wing; Ma Boswell from Bread

At her worst she sees material wealth, & the trapping an delusions of wealth, as a real reflection of her worth. Excuse the very British reference, Hyacinth Bucket

If you get the Queen of Pentacles;

  • Nurture yourself, whether that’s a film and a tub of ice cream, a long bath or an afternoon in the garden.
  • Relax and trust… your home (or business or garden or family) do not need to be managed into perfection.
