The King of Wands

King of Wands, “ A visionary”

The combination of power, strength of will and complete conviction in himself makes the King of Wands a charismatic leader.

People are drawn to his good humour, enthusiasm and optimism- but he always needs his own space.

The king of wands is a strange mix. Each suit fits the ranks differently, and fire is so impulsive, so fast moving that I do not think it suits the rank of king well. So this king is keen to be a page, to be able to follow his desire where-ever it leads him, yet a deep inner responsibility means he will do the “right thing”

This is the teacher, mentor, professor, healer, shaman, creative- who has the skill to help others, but would rather be focusing on his own projects really. He will inspire others, but be exhausted by that and retreat into his own world to regain his energy. Look carefully, he’s off now.

Symbols

Like the page, his wand is fully on the ground (unlike the queen whose wand is on the platform). The king of wands needs to be grounded, needs to experience life and be fully engaged.

His green boots are clearly shown, reminding us of the freedom he needs.

And that little salamander, bought to life at the foot of the King of wands? He is the magician, the shaman, the seer. He has immense power to create- and yet sometimes he just wants to escape the responsibilities that brings with it.

And who do I associate with the King of Wands? The most brilliant, original, inspirational Mr Sherlock Holmes of course!

In life, I associate the King of wands with originality- try to find the original answer to your problem. In a difficult or reversed position he may be suggesting you need to relax, spend some time reflecting and nurturing yourself.

In a blocked position this brilliance can lead to obsessive behaviors as a coping mechanism.

If you get the King of Wands;

  • Trust in your vision, and yourself.
  • Watch out for obsessive behaviors.
